(ARTHROPODA: Insecta)
In social Hymenoptera, the establishement of new colonies by the departure of one or more reproductive forms plus groups of workers from the parental nest, in which comparable units remain to perpetuate the parental colony; sometimes called hesmosis in ants; sociotomy in termites; see swarming.
